The Why

Babies wear sleepwear for long stretches overnight. Their skin is thinner and more absorbent and they breathe faster than adults - so what’s in the fabric matters more than you might think.

The Clean Bar

What we look for:

* GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the gold standard for organic textiles. It certifies not just the cotton itself, but the entire production process — including dyes and fineshes. Not all "organic cotton" meets this level. Some brands use organic cotton fibres but don’t certify the full process, and many include elastane (synthetic stretch fibre) to improve fit.

Nature Baby

It's hard to go past Nature Baby. It’s one of the cleanest options available with GOTS certification covering the full production process. The quality is unbeatable but given the higher price point, we'd invest in a couple of pieces and wash regularly.

We’d also buy some of the more practical H&M multipacks. They’re affordable and have a bit of stretch so they're easy to get onto a wriggly baby. We like that H&M clearly lists material composition, so we know what we're actually buying.

A NOTE ON MAINSTREAM BRANDS
Brands like Target, Bonds and Cotton On are widely used because they’re easy to buy and affordable. Most parents end up with some in rotation.

Some ranges even use organic cotton but they don’t clearly detail the full material composition. We’ve prioritised brands that are more transparent about what’s actually in the fabric (like H&M, which lists exact percentages), so we know what we're buying.
